Why is terraria so boring

I enjoyed it until I beat the normal mode and encountered hardmode bosses. Hardmode seemed like what it really is, something that was put on top of the original game that wasn't meant to be in the game. The hardmode boss fights are tedious and annoying, they have so much hp you have to build a boss arena or play coop to defeat them.

And what for? Armor and weapons that have no purpose once you have defeated all hardmode bosses.
