Paid parental leave who is eligible

The Federal Employee Paid Leave Act FEPLA makes paid parental leave available to Federal employees covered under Title 5 following in connection with a qualifying birth of a son or daughter or the placement of a son or daughter with an employee for adoption or foster care.

Paid parental leave granted in connection with a qualifying birth or placement under FEPLA is substituted for unpaid FMLA leave and is available during the month period following the birth or placement. Paid parental leave under FEPLA is limited to 12 work weeks and may be used during the month period beginning on the date of the birth or placement involved.
